Annual Theme - Care for Yourself, Love Your Family

By Mr. Cheng Tsz-chung, Social Worker at the Wan Chai Integrated Family Service Centre, SJS

Our Centre has always aimed to promote communication among family members and establish deeper relationships through various types of services and activities. We believe that the family is an important cornerstone of society and provides a place for the next generation of family members to receive both practical and emotional support. Therefore, the centre will assist families in discovering and nurturing their own potential through parent-child activities, community resource introductions, and other support services, enhancing their ability to solve problems together. To align with the aforementioned service development direction, the centre will adopt "Caring for Oneself and Loving the Family" as this year's service development theme, offering a series of group activities for families in the area, allowing family members to learn to love themselves, love others, and love their family.

We have always been committed to creating a healthy and enjoyable living environment for family members. Therefore, we started a group called "Mindfulness Experience Trio" on 5th March. Participants can cultivate inner and outer physical and mental balance and health through activities such as breath awareness, body scanning, mindfulness meditation, and stretching exercises. They can also master mindfulness techniques through collective practice and deepen these into their daily lives, listening to their true needs and learning how to care for themselves.

Furthermore, we believe that families need to have quality time together in order to learn to love and care for one another, which is an essential part of the process of loving a family. In light of this, we will take advantage of the Easter holiday to hold an outdoor event called "Easter Egg Hunt Fun" on April 13th (Saturday) for children aged two to six and their families. The aim is to promote communication and care among family members through activities such as searching for Easter eggs on the beach, playing games, singing songs, and doing crafts, allowing them to enjoy happy moments together.。

Considering the growth needs of children is also a way to love the family. Dads are often busy with work, and the time spent with their children is incredibly precious. But how can fathers, through the limited time they have with their children, meet their needs while also communicating with them in new and innovative ways? We sincerely invite children aged three to six and their fathers to participate in the event "Dads Jam with Me - Make Your Own Toys 2.0" on Saturday, June 15th. During this event, parents and children can create paintings and artworks together, unleashing each other's vibrant creativity and enhancing communication between them throughout the creative process. Moreover, fathers can gain a deeper understanding of their children's characteristics through the artworks, allowing them to provide a nurturing environment for their growth.

From April 2019, we will take "Caring for Ourselves, Loving Our Families" as our service mission, and we look forward to your participation in jointly creating a healthy, joyful, and vibrant living environment.
